Give To Live
We make a living by what we get out of life, but we make a life by what we give back to life. There's always something to get from whatever you give in this life; whether your giving is to God or man. When you're not giving, you're not living.Elijah walked into the yard of a widow woman at Zarephath and asked her to fix him a meal. Looking at him like one who had surfaced from another planet, and as a result didn't know what was going on in the land (famine), she carefully explained to him that she was just about to prepare the last meal for herself and her only son to eat and wait for death; but, the man of God insisted on his own meal first.
Upon his insistence, she went ahead and prepared a meal for him. Caring little about her own need, she decided to meet the need of this man; even though she had never met him before. While many around them died, this woman, her son and the Prophet lived throughout the period of the famine. This widow woman discovered the secret of living through giving. Giving is the key to living both now and eternally.
Never be tired of giving even when good result expected appears not to be forthcoming. The Will of God is to pass on to others what He has given you; the cycle of life can continue. When you give, you're sure to get, no matter how little you give. So, not giving is not getting. The givers hand is always above that of the getter.
For your giving to have ultimate reward, you must give your heart to God; else, it'll amount to complete waste of time and resources. If you must live life to the fullest here and live eternally, begin giving. Start with your heart and progress to giving your time, talent and treasures. Only when you start giving have you begun living. Start living today! (extract from Christian Women Mirror - June Edition).
