All-Round Success: The Inheritance of the Righteous
There were young people who received God's favour as a result of their decision to live a life pleasing to Him. In the end of their studies (in a College in Babylon), they were the best because "God gave them knowledge and skill in all learning and wisdom". All-round success entails spiritual and physical achievement in life. "Beloved, I wish above all things that thou mayest prosper and be in health, even as thy soul prospers". This is only for the righteous in the Lord. However, the righteous must apply divine principles to achieve his desired success. Young people such as Joseph, Moses, Ruth, David, Daniel and his friends enjoyed this inheritance. It is your turn today (Daniel 1:8, 9, 17-20; Philippians 4:3; III John 2).
Divine Promise: The promise of God covers all aspects of our lives. These include salvation from sin, sanctification of heart, Spirit Baptism, healing, deliverance, provision, protection, academic success, and so on. The people who in Bible days enjoyed divine favour and promises did so because they believed in the Lord. Today, those that believe in God can enjoy the same divine favour and promises. "Unto you first God, having raised up his Son Jesus, sent him to bless you, in turning away every one of you from his iniquities". When we receive Christ, we step into a realm of unsearchable riches and unlimited success. "And he shall be like a tree planted by the rivers of water, that brings forth his fruit in his season; his leaf also shall not wither; and whatsoever he does shall prosper" (Joshua 1:8; Ephesians 1:3 II Peter 1:1-3; James 5:15-16).
Definite Principle: God has outlined definite principles for the believer to enjoy all-round success. Here are some of them:
i. Desire for success - Psalm 37:4 - 5;
ii. Determination for success - Philippians 4:13;
iii. Diligence in studies - Proverbs 16:26;
iv. Deploying all talent for success - Ecclesiastics 9:10; and
v, Depending on God and His promises - John 15:5.
Diligent Praying: As we have confidence in God's promises that whatever our desired success may be, we must pray in faith to claim these promises. Since God answered our prayers in the past, we have assurance that He will answer us today. "Confess your faults one to another, and pray one for another, that ye may be healed. The effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man avails much." (Matthew 7:7-11; Mark 11:22-24; John 14:13; II Samuel 7:25; I Chronicles 4:9-10).
